transmission when shifts from 1st to 2nd is hard and jars driver

only does this sporaticiy, goes away if car is turned off and restarted

Sounds like a shift solenoid problem. Does the check engine light come on as well? HTH. - Jim

Check your transmission fluid level. Make sure that it's full. I'm still leaning toward a shift solenoid. GM transmissions are notorious for those solenoids failing. Not a cheap fix. The labor is what's expensive. HTH. -Jim

No shift solenoids in the G6. I thought that was what was wrong with mine. Found out they don't have them
