1997 ford Econoline e350 no start no crank

Asked by Nicholas Sep 24, 2023 at 08:52 PM about the 1997 Ford E-Series E-350 XL Club Wagon Passenger Van Extended

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just replaced starter. Replaced shifter cable and neutral
starter switch. Replaced alternator, ~6mo battery. Replaced
the shifter bushings and now car won't start. All lights are on
and even radio works, but no click and no crank. I checked
neutral starter switch and connection is fine.

Might be a defective neutral safety switch or it's installed or adjusted incorrectly. Might be a defective starter, especially if you bought one that's rebuilt instead of one that's new or remanufactured. When things like this happen you have to go back and check components and your work. That's what real mechanics do. Otherwise, they don't they paid.

Update: radio is getting power even when car is off, but engine isn't getting any power everything else seems to be working fine. Still no crank or start. Still at a loss. Any ideas?

Check the ground wire from body to engine block. You can use a jumper cable one end on the engine block by the altinator and one to the body
