I'm wondering if it's possible to upgrade the transmission in my grandperents' '87 Ford E150. Is it?

I want to swap out the existing C6 without overdrive to a transmission that has overdrive. The van has a 351 windsor. As for any more info, I'm not peeve to. But with my lack of experience, I'll listen to suggestions. So far I've read up on the possibility of using a tranny from a V6 late 90s Mustang or an AOD. Again, I'm a bit green at this.

So it would be best for me to just fix the existing C6 or find a different C6 for what I want to purpose the van for? Ok than. Any other ideas?
