Battery dead on 2020 Rav4 XLE: how to fix?

Asked by SadRav4 Jul 31, 2020 at 12:58 AM about the 2020 Toyota RAV4 XLE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2020 Rav4 XLE with about 3,000 mileage. The car battery has died
twice. The first time it happened, I jump started the car. The second time, I
took the car to the dealer but they said there was nothing wrong with the car.
I don't understand why a new car would be having these battery problems.
Has anyone had any similar problems and have suggestions on how to
resolve the issue?

I work roadside assistance and have come across 2 similar cases. One with only 1640 miles and the other with 2400 miles. In both instances it was a very hot day and a cool night. I think that the battery terminals are contracting just enough to lose the battery connection. I haven't come across a third specimen yet to tighten the terminals before the jumpstart. Will keep u posted.

It just happened to my wife's 2020 Rav4 with less than 2000 miles. Battery is down to 7 volts. Will be calling the dealer. In the meantime wife have to call taxi. I tried a one of those little jumpers and that did not work, even though i used it to start my 6 cylinder Maxima.

Hi, was wondering if Toyota ever fixed your dead battery issue. I brought my car in for 10 000 mile service, gas tank replacement and software update. Got home and 1 hour later car wouldn't start. Tow truck drive had to jump start it and is towing it to dealer. Thanks.
