Wheel Balancing 03 maxima

Hi - my tire dealer cant get the tires balanced at 65-70 mph the car vibrates and shimmies.  Tried 3 time to re-balance. They claim the rims have no lip on the outside so they cant balance correctly...?? any ideas?  THANKS

have they tried using weights on the inside of the rim instead? Also, it could be that you have bad tie rod ends or your wheel bearings are getting played out...another possibility is your wheel alignment..get that checked out too

Thanks for responding. Wheel Alignment was done at the same time as the tire purchase. and they have used a massive amount of weights on the inside of rim. (by the way I bought Cooper CV4's). The mechanic said tie rods were fine. Didn't say anything about wheel bearings -- I'll look into that! Today, he said these Maxima rim bend easily and 43 of my rims are bent... Find that hard to believe tho... thanks....

If this started happening when you had the tires installed I would say that you have a bad tire and not the rims. In somecases, the lack of uniformity of sidewall stiffness around a tire can cause a hop at reasonably specific highway speeds. (62-67 mph) It will act just like a bent rim. There are roadforce balancers that will compensate for this sidewall stomp. If the roadforce balancer gawks at the tire then you know you have a bad tire. if you got aftermarket rims with these tires then make sure you have centering rings and they are the right size for the hub.
