2003 Nissan Altima not accelerating/bad speedometer
My car won't accelerate past 30 MPH and the
speedometer will not move at all. What can i do to
not accelerating may be any number of concerns..Plugged catalytic converter....stuck EGR valve...speedometer is digital? most likely your Battery is OLD and needs to be replaced...get NEW cables...be sure there is one 30 amp cable to the engine and to the chassis...also the RED cable goes to the starter solenoid~ so get the electricals right..no corrosion...solid 12 or 12.5 volt battery....clean connections and we have a starting point then....I might look for a vacuum leak on any of the hoses...Nissan uses Butyl rubber...not the expensive Nitrile rubber that BMW uses...so they split, bloat and fall off~ so that is another concern...sensors....the AIT sensor measuring the temperature for your ECU is an important one...tune it up...new filters...and your PVC elbow~ ...might be a start~
I had same, was told car locks down to low gear after some faults so not to damage the car. Take car to a garage that diagnoses via fault code (usually a free service), the fault will have logged a code on cars computer. Nissan know what the code problems are and the net holds many answers too, you just need to know the code then you can get it fixed !
2003 is long enough for hoses to degrade especially in an oil environment will bloat and fall off~ get nitrile rubber vacuum hoses...ask for them at the counter~
