full time 4 wheel drive swerves when front hits a puddle

Asked by Guru963MYZ Nov 11, 2022 at 02:23 PM about the 2019 Mazda CX-5 GX AWD

Question type: General

I have full time 4 wheel drive & when I drive in the rain it will swerve when the

front tires hit a puddle.

Can I remove the drive shaft to the rear to prevent the swerving in the rain

Probably won’t fix the symptom and may create an undriveable vehicle cause the AWD computer will not see any response from rear wheel sensors when it applies some power to the rear wheels. Best to have the system checked by your favorite shop and fix it right. Sounds like there maybe a front speed sensor error or misread.

It's a three year old car. Why would you want to do something so obtuse as remove a driveshaft? The problem might be as simple as a bad wheel sensor. Have the car fixed properly before you destroy it.

Maybe you just need new tires or something in the front suspension or steering is worn. Like Ed suggest, have a shop look the car over. It might be something simple.
