Timing belt replaced after blowing a belt on eclipse

I was driving my 97 Mitsubishi eclipse and I
broke a secondary timing belt .. I replaced
with a new belt and now the engine is loud
and it also has wearing on the timing belt ..
What is going on?

Did you check condition of heads/valve train? A valve might have been damaged. You also say you replaced a belt but what shape were the sprockets and tensioners in? Anytime a timing belt breaks during engine operation you want to check overall motor condition, and not just replace the belt.
