Power steering

Asked by Jul 17, 2012 at 02:07 PM about the 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor XLS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I drive through small, and I repeat, SMALL puddles, my power sterring goes out for just a few seconds. This is a new problem.

Sounds like water is getting onto your belt, and the belt slips on the pulleys not engaging the power steering. Have a look at the belt tensioner as it might be adding enough tension and look at the belt itself for wear.

Sounds logical. I will have that looked at. Thanks

We are having the same problem. I had the power steering belt just checked AGAIN and it is still tight. This is not a consistent problem either. It is a coin toss. Sometimes it works when wet and sometimes it doesn't.
