1991 mercury cougar Ls voltage regulator wire is preventing charging, What to do?
The car will not charge unless the light green/red wire is in direct contact with
the battery. Once off, the alternator stops. If i leave the wire their the battery
dies after 2 hrs. So what can i do to fix it. (name tools or methods)
TRY AND ADD A DIODE IN THE WIRE..THAT ONLY ALLOWS POWER/VOLTS TO FLOW ONE WSY ...TO THE BATTERY
Do you think it could also be the charger indicator on the dashboard?
Yeah the wire gets power only at run position of the ignition.
My alternator is new mate. Its just the light green/red wire that attaches and everything is back to normal until you turn it off and drains the battery
Should i try taking out the dash and seeing if the charge indicator light is blown or burnt because i only have one light that shows up on the dash and its the check engine light. PS: the car has been sitting for 3 yrs
back to the corroded connection. Where could a corroded connection be at alternator or what?
