My bf bought an 02 mercury sable. It has 151k miles. The tranny went completely out. It won't go into any gear! It showed no problems as far as slipping or anything? Is there a recall on the tranny of the sable? What could have caused this to happen all of a sudden like that? Help plz

Even if there was a recall its long past any consideration at that mileage. Sometimes trannys jus go out, jus like people just drop dead. Its aroun:-) d that time for it to go. You could check fluids, sensors, linkage but I think it just died on your bf...sorry!

Take a look at the transmission fluid if it looks brown or black most likely never had the fluid and filter changed and that is why it has gone bad.

Could the shift cable be the problem? Have it looked at by a trusted mechanic.
