2003 Mercury Mountaineer

I can't figure out what's wrong with my
mountaineer. Will not go passed 50 mph
and no acceleration going up hills

I would look at the transmission control module as well. Does the car shift properly? Any high revs (especially upon starting)? Any hard shifts? Ill monitor your post for more information to best assist you.

We had the same problem and it was the ignition coil. $200 fix. Our check engine light came on and when we hit 40-50 mph the light would start to blink and we had no acceleration.
