We have experienced our 2nd Row middle seat belt to get locked 3 times since January 2018-June 2019. It won’t retract. I am so disappointed thinking we could have purchased a better quality truck. What’s going to happen after warranty.

My husband was able to release ours. He removed the reclining lever - there’s a small pin/spring between the back of the lever and the seat, push that in and it will release the lever from the post. Once the lever handle is off, you can slip the seatbelt off, then just pop the recliner lever back on.

We keep having the same problem. We keep taking it to the dealer to replace the part. I can’t remember if we have gone 4 times already since we purchased it. One time they even replaced the whole bench. It’s a headache. I’m worried when it’s out of warranty we will have to pay out of pocket to keep getting it fixed.

FYI: I know how to work on cars. Had the same problem twice now. Rear driver's side handle was able to be pulled off. It Happened today on my passenger's side and while I was trying to pull it off it broke (also happened on my driver's side 6 months ago but was able to pop the handle off). Called the dealership and they said they won't cover it because it has 36,636 miles and is out of factory warranty. Part number 84106400 $35.45 1/2hr labor $60. Although the dealership said it wasn't covered (after giving him my VIN). After calling GM it is covered because I bought it with 1,000 miles on it. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!!! I know they are going to replace the handle, but this is going to happen again. For safety issues they need to redesign the handle or the seat belt.

This still happens on the 2020 models, my kids get it stuck a lot on that lever

Very simple, just push the c-clip latches (stick your finger between the handle and the feet).. this will release the handle.. Re-install the whole thing is 15 seconds

Anyone have a video of the lever being removed?

Mustafa is 100% correct! I have a 2020 Traverse with the seat beat/lever issue. You gotta get your fingers between the seat cushion and lever and release that c clip by fiddling with it a little (it's not something you can take a video of since you couldn't see how to release the clip). Literally a 15 second fix and the handle pops right back on right afterwards. Thank you, Mustafa!!!
