2001 dodge ram 1500 5.4l engine swap

Have an old 2002 dodge ram van 1500 5.4l. Want to know
what is the most recent (more powerful) engine I can install
without replacing the transmission? Maybe a magnum?

Murpheys' law says if you replace the engine the tranny will soon go . If you install more power it will probably kill the tranny , everything in the drive train should be upgraded if the engine is .

Ok, ok, so if I was going to do both. How far can I go without major wiring issues?
