2017 Dodge Journey Key Fob

Question type: General

I noticed that my vehicle did not want to
start with my push start and key fob. I
immediately replaced the key fob battery
(for the 3rd time in 18 months). The lock and
unlock and panic button all work on the fob,
so I know the new battery is good. But when
I push the brake and push the key fob onto
the push start button, nothing happens! It
does not even recognize the key fob is there.
After trying twice, the brakes locked up. I'm
now stranded!

I was already very weary of the push start
when purchasing this vehicle August or
2018.
Is there a way to use the metal key that flips
out the key fob? Is there a place under the
panels to use that real key?? I have 3 kids
and can't do anything, Please help.

I have a 2015 journey with push start. I was told by a dealer sales person that you can remove the push button (start) and use the key with in the fob. Supposedly remove the key from the fob, pry out the button and there is supposed to be a keyed ignition there. I HAVE NOT DONE OR SEEN IT. Also if it's a weak signal thing you should be able to hold the fob up to the start button and it should read it if it's a weak battery/signal problem. I would try this first.

Thanks for the quick response. My husband just arrived and disconnected the car battery (since we know key fob battery is brand new & works). He reset everything and Still the push start does not detect the key fob. The car also doesn't detect my hand on the door handle (which usually unlocks car right away). My husband also has tried to delete and reset the key fob without luck.

I am currently having this problem. Could you tell me what end up being the solution?

The key fob not recognized is caused by a faulty battery current sensor located on the negative terminal of the battery. Check that the connection is secure first.
