If you are using conventional oil you need to every 3000 miles I worked at a Subaru and Hyundai dealership for quite some time and Hyundai had a significant amount more engine replacements compared to Subaru I replaced at least 20+ in my time there most of which were due to lack of maintenance but also on the model just before yours. Yours, if a gdi that is, had a design change and is better I believe, just have it changed every 3000 and if something does happen within 100k you won't have to worry about warranty trying to weasel out of it.

Every 5,000 miles on synthetic should make your car engine last a long time.

My 2011 sonatas series suggests 7000 mi with synthetic oil but any car under warranty has to go by the book and keep receipts relating.g to those changes. 5w30 synthetic will give you great gas mileage and on gdi engines be sure to put a complete gas cleaner in the tank like regained complete by gumout to keep valves from "gumming up" vid requires this.

The answer above at the end is not vid ( a typo) but gdi or gas direct injection which gives you better gas mileage and power.

I have a 2016 Hyundai Elantra SE, I just had my oil changed at the dealership. They told me to never use synthetic oil in it, that it calls for conventional. He told me that using synthetic will cause problems over the years/miles. Hyundai recommends using Quaker State or Shell (which is made by QS) I hope this answer helps anyone needing to know what oil to use in their Elantra.

I would check your owners manual for factory recommendations. The advice the dealer gave in the above post sounds odd. Does not sound factory but may be born out of experience .

I've been using full synthetic mobile 1 oil since I got my 2016 Hyundai Elantra SE I have not experienced any problem yet the vehicle warms up quickly in the cold which is in Texas the lowest is 20 degrees Fahrenheit I drive about 600 miles a week so I do a oil change every 7500 miles I have a total of 48000 miles on the vehicle now in the summertime the vehicle ride smooth as well 110 degrees Fahrenheit

The Hyundai manual recommends 5w20 Quaker State conventional, oil. The manual is the written legal agreement for the vehicle.

I used Mobile One 0W20 in my 2011 Elantra up until I traded it in with just over 200000 miles changing every 5k using the Hyundai OEM filter...engine was still in great shape, tranny was starting to slip :(

Owner's manual recommends to change it every 7,500 miles. I prefer to do this on 6,000- 7,500 just like these guys recs - https://engineswork.com/oil- capacity/hyundai/hyundai-elantra-oil-capacity.html
