Transmission swaps
I've got a 1995 transmission out of 3500
with a 350 can I put it in my 1988 1500 with
a 350 both are 4x4s
Gaurantee you the one from the 3500 is a 4l80e and a 1500 99% of the time comes with a 4l60e. No they don't interchange. The 4l80 is a better transmission but won't simply plug in and work.
I am assuming they are automatics
no they will not interchange 92,93, 94 96,97and98 will interchange 95 is a stand- alone year as far as Transmissions go 95 has a 12 pin lock up converter rest have a 11pin
95 is a one off year for the 4l60e. But not the 4l80e. However now of this matters as he likely don't have the right transmissions. Now that I'm reading this again, I thought his truck was a 98 not a 88. An 88 comes with a 700r4. Which has no electronic controls. Still won't work

96 will go on a 95 with no problems just have to change a couple things like shifter hooks to bottom of the oil pan in the fittings in the transmission you have to swap mine works just fine
