Why is my 1998 infiniti q45 putting out white smoke.

Asked by Guru8LFL May 02, 2017 at 05:17 PM about the 1998 INFINITI Q45 Touring RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced knock sensors and injectors. When I started the car it started fine
but was putting out lots of white smoke. After a few min. I pushed on the
gas and it chocked out. The car has about 120k miles. It was stalling under
load at
low RPM. It was showing a knock sensor code. While replacing sensors I
discovered  a broken vacuum hose. Probably the reason for the knock
sensor reading.

Blowing white smoke out the exhaust is a sign of a blown head gasket. You should be able to smell a sweet smell to the exhaust. Have you ben loosing coolant? And if the engine at some point had gotten hot, that would cause the head to warp causing the bad head gasket.
