Misfire on '98 K1500
My truck idles and accelerates perfectly. It only misfires when I travel at a constant speed.
Any advice would be helpful.
My old Tahoe would do the same thing, I had an injector service done and then started using Techron fuel additive, no more problem. Started using it in all my rigs now, so far no injector problems at all.
Also check plugs & wires if they are old.
The cab was removed recently due to an accident. Can it be distributor?
Yes, Check the cap and rotor.
It could be but then you should have a misfire code or a sync code. Is the check engine light on?
No, no lights come on. Where should I start looking?
If you suspect the cap then start there, I assume it ran better before the accident, if they have never been done then replace the cap, rotor, plug wires and spark plugs. When operating in a light cruse condition, say 55 mph on a flat highway and a very lite throttle the computer has leaned the fuel mixture way out, so if the ignition has any weakness in it, the spark will track to that weak point cause when it is that lean resistance across the plugs is really high. Then go on with the injector service if it doesn't clear up the problem. HTH
