2017 Ford Escape ticking sound from engine

Asked by jcarstenm Apr 05, 2021 at 10:56 PM about the 2017 Ford Escape SE AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi there, my engine makes a ticking noise as soon as it's started. It sounds
most prominent above the left front wheel, though sounds as if it's coming
from the engine somewhere. Would anyone know what this might be? It is a
2017 Ford Escape SE 4WD 2.0L ecoboost. I just bought the car and have 2
weeks left on my 1 month warranty. I ideally need to know if it's something I
should raise before the warranty expires. Thanks!

I would raise the issue. A ticking could be a slight exhaust leak, to something more serious.

Not really. Had a mechanic look at it and say it was normal. Still does it but haven't had any issues.

From what I understand and have read and videos I've watched plus listening to ours this is a normal noise. These engines are nosy
