No oil light warning

Asked by Mike Jun 08, 2016 at 09:10 PM about the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Engine seized to no oil but oil light never came on, any thoughts on why it
would not.   Once engine seized all the lights light up but no oil light before it
did.

Bulb was burned out or wire from sender to dash broken/disconnected or bad sending unit. As to no oil leaks to warn you, do you check your oil level weekly or bi-weekly? If oil level was good, the oil pump probably died, but you should have heard a lot of knocking while driving it, long before the engine seized up.

My 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe 2.0T AWD is consuming oil. I came across a Class Action suite against KIA and HMM to provide Life Time Engine Warranty for certain class Hyundai and Kia owners. Settlement was submitted for Class approval on May 7, 2020. For those that have posted a question about it here, go to your dealer and ask them to do an Oil Consumption Test and if your care is burning oil then Hyundai/KIA will replace your engine.
