Overheating Issues

My car is overheating; I thought I might need to replace the thermostat or the water pump; but there is large amounts of coolant spilling out of the car from what looks like under the radiator. I cannot get into the radiator because I don't have the tools to take off the cross bar. I was wanting to know what common issues there are with this type of problem? Could it be a hose, or the entire radiator is bad?

It could be the coolant overflow dumping coolant due to overheating, but then again it could be the radiator. With the engine dead cold remove the radiator cap top up the coolant level then start the engine and let it run until the temp gauge reads normal. Now feel the upper radiator hose, is it warm or hot? If yes the t-stat is ok if not wait until the temp gauge gets close to hot recheck the hose careful it will be hot, if it's not hot the t-stat is bad. Not much else to say. I hope this helps
