What M4 code mean on a dashboard?

Question type: General

My friend was driving my mom's Chevy Malibu and
it shows up under the speed odometer M4 where
the mileage is at she doesn't know what that
means.

She must have moved the transmission level into the manual mode and was in fourth gear at the time, aka M4.
