My 2001 taurus starts and stops with only 44,000 original miles... A mystery
●2001 FORD Taurus Sel ...
My 2001 taurus which has 44000 miles has now twice not started.
About 6 weeks ago I came out to start the car and it sounded as if the battery was going dead( battery is no more than 2yrs old). Tried a second time and cranked worse than the first time. The third time was worse than the second. Waited a few minutes then tried again. The car started right up as if there wasn't any problem at all. The same thing happened to me yesterday with the same results on the fourth try. Both times no dashboard lights were on, connections to battery are tight, clean with no corrosion, and the chimes were as loud as they should be. I am baffled. Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Mileage is 44,000 original miles.
I have maintained this car very well over the years. It has not been neglected.
from whet you said from third time was worse then fired right up...recheck all the grounds, particularly the block ground. wires on starter!!!.so you can have a short in the battery...you need to have the battery load tested
