dear sir
i have a check engine light on my dashboard
i have changed wires, coil-pack, hoses
what could the problem be?
the ford dealer says the computer could need replacing
but that cost a lot of money
please give advice

What code is the computer throwing.It could be as simple as changing the gas cap.What engine do you have would help aswell.

mistake number 1 is goin to the dealer first. id say go to auto zone and have them hook it up to there computer. that is what i did with mine and it ended up being the egr pressure sensor. a 40 dollar part at auto zone. i have the same car as you do so i would start at auto zone and do the same in the future it can save you alot of money

Go to advanced auto or autozone and get the codes that your car is producing. Post them on here. If the car is running fine it is probably a DPFE sensor. A cheap 5 minute fix.
