Try a jump start. If it starts there is an issue with the battery and/or alternator.

My 2016 Nissan Rogue randomly won’t start. I’ve been told by Nissan mechanics that it’s the battery causing it. I get a key ID not found error and the car gets towed to the dealership. The thing is, the battery isn’t dead! All the lights, locks, radio, ac etc work! The lights aren’t dimmed at all and when I put a charger on the battery it said fully charged. The system doesn’t recognize that you’ve pressed the brake pedal-and that suggests it’s the brake switch that’s faulty. However the Nissan mechanics keep telling me it’s a dead battery causing this. I don’t buy it! It’s a major inconvenience to own a car that intermittently decides not to start! Having it towed isn’t much fun either. Every tow guy puts a power pack on it and every tow guy leaves saying the battery should have started the car. While the tow guy was at my house today, another tow guy got called out for a 2017 Nissan that did the exact same thing! So this afternoon before the garage guys went home, I called the dealership and got told they reset my battery and they wanted to keep it overnight to make sure it started in the morning! I am beginning to think this a known issue at Nissan, with the detailed records they keep. Call me skeptical about this...warranty runs out in two weeks..

Have the same problem, sometimes it won't start and after 15 minutes or so it will. Suspect bad solenoid or loose cable. Was going to change the starter, but they moved it to the front of the car and I have not been able to find directions to change it. Suspect need to pull the driver wheel off and the liner for the wheel well, but hate to start the process without certainty.

Was not the starter, dealership reloaded the ECU firmware. Three days so far and no failure to start. If that does not clear the problem they suggested replacing the computer.

I am having the exact problem with my recently bought 2016 Nissan Rogue. It will not crank and makes a clicking sound. The lights will come on but the car will not crank . I was also told the battery was fully charged. What do I do?! It’s also saying key not detected I’m scared to drive it and get stuck.

Bought a 2018 Nissan Rogue on April 2019 and after a couple of times saying “key not detected” lights were flickering and car won’t start. We don’t know what to do.

Car wont start. "Key not detected" light is on. I tried starting it with key in ignition. Nothing. The SERVICE CAR NOW light came on. All lights come on. But won't turn over. Just clicking sound. This is the third or fourth time. I originally thought it was the Canadian winters killing the battery. So I have been switching batteries. I have a spare just in case. But this is ridiculous for a car under 80,000 km and only 4 yrs old.

All, I have two used Nissans. A 2014 Altima and a 2016 Rogue. I've had this happen to me on both cars. I don't know what triggers it, but the solution, assuming the battery has juice is to completely disconnect the battery. All the car electronics that have temporary charge will discharge. My theory is that's it's like rebooting the car. Wait about 10 minutes, reconnect and, in my case, both cars started right up.

Seems like majority are having this problem during winter. My car won't start. The headlights flash, the windows and radio work. So I dont think it's the battery. Seems like a electrical issue being that this is a smart car.

2015 Rogue. Disconnect and reconnect the battery. I Left lights on all night. all electric out and would not start next day. Charged battery to full with charger. All interior lights, radio, windows all worked. but no start and no headlights. Got Headlight system error message on dash. Would not start. No crank, no click nothing when I turned the key. Found a message online that said "completely disconnect battery cables from the battery , computer codes will reset. reconnect cables" I did that and car started normally on first attempt, all good now.

I see many reported issues/problems. Well, I ran into the same issue for my 2016 Rogue AWDSL I would very much like to know what is the solution.

I have been starting my 2016 rough since winter came this 2016. I have just changed the battery and the startup issue have not gone away. One of the comments in here indicated if the battery cable is disconnected and reconnected again, it could reset the system controlling the startup. Also, some comments say the startup issue was experienced in the wintertime, implying it may be going to go away if summer comes!!

My issue is the same as every single comment here. 2016 Rogue. Someone said to disconnect the battery - I don't know how. I shouldn't have to do that anyway. Clearly, Nissan's cars are defective and should be declared lemons. Someone needs to step in and help us. This is a dangerous situation for every Nissan car owner.
