I am buying a 2016, 2 wheel drive, 1500 Silverado. It comes with P255/70 R 17 tires. Are these tough enough when carrying a light camper over rocky Western roads?

I would recommend LT rated tires for rocky roads. Get ones that are E load rated as they have more plys. The stock tires are likely not very heavy duty but are chosen by Chevy for a soft, quiet ride.
