DRIVE BELT SLIPPING ON 2016 JEEP PATRIOT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've been trying to figure out the reason my drive belt keeps on coming off,
my husband already replaced the power steering pump and the upper and
lower idler pulleys, the alternator, and the Accessory drive belt tensioner and
it was still misaligned until my husband went and bought a shorter drive belt
to bypass the ac compressor and it is working fine now but I live in Houston
Texas where the weather is near a 100 degrees daily so it is miserable to
drive my truck without AC. He checked the ac compressor and it is working
fine and the clutch appears to be turning fine as well. The only thing is the
gap between the clutch and the compressor seems to be a little more than
the recommended 0.60 mm it is actually at 0.70 mm, Is there any way to
adjust the gap between the ac compressor and the clutch on a 2016 Jeep
Patriot 2.0 engine to reduce the gap? I hope so because I really can't afford
to replace a whole new ac compressor right now and I have heard it is really
difficult to replace the clutch on the compressor. Has anyone successfully
changed the clutch on a patriot or a Compass ac compressor? If so, how
difficult was it? Did you need any special type of tools to do it? I really
appreciate any advice anyone can give me! Thank's in advance to anyone
who responds!
