2016 Hyundai Elantra Limited - Car Shaking

Asked by Sloanekkelley Nov 12, 2017 at 03:39 PM about the 2016 Hyundai Elantra Limited FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello everyone, my 2016 Hyundai Elantra started
shaking on the freeway the other day. I've had to
keep getting jumps because I need a new battery,
and assumed that was the issue. Today I got a new
battery and got on the freeway but the car is still
shaking? I recently had a slow leak in my front right
tire, and didn't get it replaced but had my fiance put
that seal stuff inside of it and he thinks that might
have something to do with it, cause of the tire
pressure maybe? Can anyone tell me what can be
the issue? I'm freaking out here.

Is the check engine light on? Your car should be under warranty so take it back to your dealer.

There are no lights on, the dealership I got it from sold as is so I don't believe I have a warranty on it.

Hate to tell you this, but using that Fix-A-Flat stuff was a bad idea. If it was a small puncture on the tread, it would've been better to go to a mechanic and have them put a tire plug instead. WHY? If you do discover that the tire is repairable, you now have all of that gloopy, greasy & slippery stuff inside the tire and makes it. Some shops will refuse to repair the tire (this happened to me unfortunately) and had to get a new tire. But some shops may do the repair...talk to your mechanic ASAP. Fix-A-Flat is ONLY designed as a temporary fix anyway, plus the shaking may be caused by something else. Good luck!

The tire you were talking about sounds like that could be it. If the shaking is easily coming from the front, and it's a wobbly feeling, that's most likely it. If it's really intense shaking and it feels like something to do with the engine, I would definitely get that checked out.

Racer_X is right, only use the fix-a-flat stuff in an emergency. Use it and most tire shops will refuse to patch that tire. The goop can also plug up the tire pressure sensor.
