activated airbag lights mean if you were to be in an accident, your airbags would fail to deploy. first check to be sure your battery is fully charged. if the battery has been drained it will not have enough energy to deploy your bags thus the light. also if the inside of your car has ever been wet it could have shorted out your airbag module in which case the module would need to be replaced which can be pricey. thirdly your airbag springs may need replacing. these maintain electrical continuity with the drivers airbag and the electrical wiring. they sometimes become old and need to be replaced cutting off the flow of electricity. start with the battery issue, then to the springs, then the control module as that will be most expensive. also try to find someone with a scan tool that can erase any codes causing the light to come on.
