Low Battery Key blinking after replacing battery

Asked by GuruTNCNT Jul 05, 2018 at 10:21 PM about the 2015 Honda CR-V EX AWD

Question type: Car Customization

I had a blinking light on showing low battery - Key.  After replacing the battery
in the fob, I still show the battery light flashing.  Is there a way to reset this to
keep it from occurring?

my Vehicle was running when I changed the battery and the low battery continued flashing until I turned it off and restarted it . It was fine after that

If you have a push button start, get in the car, (without your foot on the break to start it) press the start button twice so that the indicator lights show. Within 5 seconds hold the lock button on your key fob for a few seconds, then release it. You might hear a light click. Then turn the car off. When you start the car, it will be reset. This is a built in reminder for you to check your key fob battery. This doesn't mean your battery is dead. The vehicle has a timer set to remind you to check your battery life. You might want to have your battery tested before you pay to replace it.

Thanks for this info. An added bit that I discovered: I had to also do this reset with my second remote for my Pilot, even though the battery in that one was still good and had not been changed. If both remotes were in the car, I still got the message. Resetting the second one finally got rid of the warning.

It wasn't working at first on my 2017 Honda Civic, but then I realized that you have to reset each of the key fobs.

Didn't work at first when using just my one fob, but when I tried again with both fobs, it worked. Thanks.

Thank you, I think you need to keep the start button held down while pressing the lock on the remote to reset.

No luck with 2014 Accord. No icon with 2nd fob that has old battery. Flashing icon with 1st fob that has new 3V battery. The car is detecting something with 1st fob. Is there a way to reset the fob?
