2015 Silverado 1500 Stabilitrak problem

Asked by Ryan_Owens24 Aug 09, 2022 at 10:42 PM about the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Double Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 2wd, recently it has been doing this thing,
every now and then, whenever i go to turn into a road or parking space the
steering wheel will become hard to turn and the screens inside the truck will
cut off and then come back up displaying a "Service Stabilitrak" message and
then it will go away. Every now and then when this happens the truck will turn
off. Does anyone know why this might be happening and what the fix to this
problem might be? Thank you!

Possibly more than one problem. Power steering pump or steering gear, suspension problem, codes will be stored so the traction control will need scanned, could be sensors or wiring/connector problems.

How old is the battery AND have you cleaned the battery connections? Weird things can happen when voltage goes away temporarily or is low. It could possibly be steering related but I doubt it because that would not shut the truck down. If it is not battery related I would start checking the wiring harness in the engine compartment by moving it while the engine is running with someone in the cab watching the dash for the "Service Stabilitrak" message. That is what I would do if it happened to my truck. (Hope this helps.)
