Yes this is normal,on cooler day,s you may have seen it lower,but as long as it don,t get over halfway it is ok.

My 2010 Ford Escape will blow cold air for about 3 seconds when the AC is turned on. I checked the compressor and the clutch will engage for those first couple seconds and then stop completely. I thought it might be low on freon, but when I went to check the low pressure, I got a low pressure reading of 100, which is way too high. My guess is the relay is done or maybe the compressor.
