Were all 72 endura GTO's and LeMans hood scoops functional Ram Air style ?
I have a 72 LeMans with the Endura styling option. The car was originally a 350 2BBL car, did this car have function scoops from the factory or did GM put ornamental scoops on some of these cars as well ?
I believe functional hood scoops only came with the Ram Air option. My Sister, years ago, had a '69 Firebird 400. It was not a Ram Air motor but did have the small, non functional, hood scoops. The '69 Trans Ams had the Ram Air motor and the larger, functional, hood scoops. Also, in 1976 my Parents bought a '72 LeMans. It was a "plain jane" car but had a V8 350 2bbl as well. No hood scoops at all. HTH. -Jim
Most of the time it was a dealer option or they could have been privately made to be functional . I did it with my 65 gto but i did it according to dealer specs . A 350 2 bbl is not exactly considered high performance . The high performance cars mostly had the ram air option .
I have a 71 Lemans Sport that came from the factory with a 350 2bbl and the Endura option. That option alone only gets the hood with the front vents, but no ram air guts. It was available but like Rucko said, I doubt anyone would have ordered on a 350 2bbl either. It's about $1200 to put it on today, repro parts are readily available.
