A.c./air/blower

Asked by stephanie Jun 14, 2018 at 02:43 PM about the 2014 Hyundai Elantra SE FWD

Question type: General

We have a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. A few months ago the air
stopped working all together, no heat no a.c. no defogger
etc. Once in a while we would hit a bump or go over a
speed bump and it would magically come back on, maybe
last a day, 2 days, a week...it would vary, before shutting
down again completely. Mechanic friend says relay and all
fuses are fine. Last time we got an oil change we asked the
shop if they could diagnose. They informed us that we
needed a new blower as well as resistor. HOWEVER,
whatever taking apart and putting back together they did,
somehow made the air come back on and stay on for well
over a month/maybe month and a half. Led my husband to
believe it can't be those parts that need replacing. Low and
behold here we are again and a few days ago it started
going out and coming back on throughout the day. I noticed
it would shut off when it was hotter outside and turn back
on in the evening. It's now been completely off again for a
few days. Thoughts?

The blower resistor block most likely the issue. Test the blower on the bench when it's out to make sure it runs o.k. Sometimes water will leak in those areas causing corrosion on the contacts or motor rendering them to be problematic. Would make sure you don't have a bad seal on your gaskets on the outside of the car while your in there. Good Luck!

My cArs blower is broken too. I went for a replacement light in June and it’s November and still dealing. In June or July it was fixed but then it broke again in September after a quick fix. To actually fix a problem that was caused by the dealership is about 700 dollars :( insane

We have replaced the blower motor in our Elantra 3 times over the past 6 years (twice in 2 years)
