AC not blowing cold

Asked by John May 26, 2019 at 02:36 AM about the 2014 Hyundai Tucson Limited FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 Hyundai Tucson limited. The
problems started about a year ago the system
would blow cold then blow warm. The dual climate
control acted crazy if the driver or passenger
adjusted the temperature one degree it would
make both sides change temperature although the
settings remained the same. So in the spring the
compressor would work one day and shut off by
itself until the car cooled down or the next day
sometimes it would go weeks before it would shut
down. Fast forward to about a month ago it
stopped again I took it to a dealer that was
supposed to put it on the computer and they said
the compressor was locked up the next day it
started working and ran for two weeks then quit
completely. I took it to another place they said the
compressor was bad. I'm fair with AC I replaced
the compressor the expansion valve and the drier.
The compressor came on when I added freon after
pulling the vacuum and checking for leaks. Low
side bounces between 40-45 and the AC still will
not cool at all. I apologize for this being so long but
the details hopefully will help everyone give me
directions to go because at this point it's hot in
Texas and ac is not an option. Any help would be
appreciated.

I unfortunately do not have an answer for you, but my Tucson just started the same thing over the weekend minus the dual climate issue. If you don't mind me asking, what has the cost ran so far trying to get the AC running right?

I have a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. A/C was working 100 % perfect in the morning. On my way back home in the afternoon it just stopped blowing cold. I am puzzled what could be the reason.

It took the dealerships two trips within a week period to figure out what was wrong with mine. The temperature gage that sends the signal to the ac sensor went out first. Then the compressor was found to have a short. So my compressor would kick on and off like it was supposed to and then it would shut off for a few days at random and so on. I ended up spending about $1200 between parts and labor. If your car has any warranty left, take it to the dealership. If it doesn’t, find a good local mechanic that specializes working on foreign cars, it’ll be a lot cheaper.

I had one compressor that was replaced in my 2016 tuscon last spring and now it needs to be replaced again! It was fine in the morning and started blowing warm air on the way home at night. The same thing happened last time. There has to be a defect in the car!
