turn tail light drivers side will not turn off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

everything is turned off and locked up...Yellow rear tail light stays on.

If it's yellow then it is not a tail light, per chance is it a turn signal light? If so then try moving the turn signal handle to the other side and see if the light goes out or if other lights turn on, if so then you have a problem in the combo switch for the turn signals, try turning on and off the 4 way switch a couple of times to see if that helps but most likely it will have to be replaced.

It is a turn signal light. It will not go off but it still blinks when told to turn left as does the right side. did what you suggested and stays on still.

Yep combo switch time, most likely a cross circuit internally.

Try replacing the flasher unit under the dash first. It is cheaper and easier to do first just to see if it is the multifunction switch in the column

Unplugged the after-market trailer hitch wiring harness. Problem solved. Guess I need to replace it
