Is there a way to turn the radio off and still hear the voice directions of the Nav System?

Question type: General

2014 VW CC Nav system:  I set the navigation system to find a certain address and I
would like to hear the voice commands from the Nav system.  However, I do not want to
listen to the radio or any other audio source, I just want to hear the voice commands.
Is there a way to do this?  I spent probably more than 30 minutes sitting there going
thru the menus and could not find a way.

Regaring phone usage - if the nav system is on (e.g. even showing a map, the only way
to not listen to the radio is to mute the volume; the phone seems to override the muted
volume but the nav system does not.

Any ideas would be helpful.

On my 2012 Beetle Nav, if I select BAND and reduce the volume to nil then go to NAV and engage a destination, I can turn the voice volume up for the commands and not hear the music...might be the same for the 2014 CC.

HI Scott, It turns out that for the 2014 CC it doesn't work as described in your response... However, I actually did an online chat with a VW support specialist yesterday - I found out that the Nav system has a separate volume control from the radio... But it's hidden - Basically to turn down the radio, the left volumn control is rotated to the left which mute the radio; then to turn up the Nav volume, one presses the right button and rotates the left button to the desired volume. Not great for safety since it takes two hands to adjust the Nav volume (or maybe pinkly finger and thumb and forefinger if hands are large enough. I haven't tried this yet at my experience is with a rental.

And this documented where in the owners manual????? Definitely no thanks to VW!!!! The most stupidly annoying feature I've ever had in a motor vehicle

Not having a CC, I can't say where...but my 2012 Beetle came with a TON of manuals...it can be daunting.

I must say, i've just bought a new Polo and am totally frustrated as my radio was on when i started and needed to use the navigation, but the radio could not be overdid by the navigation and i couldn't hear where i should be going!! Also not the easiest, when you want to turn off the radio whilst driving. You've got to turn all the Media button off! So annoying. My Honda was so easy in comparison.

Hi all, the only way I found to turn the radio off was to turn Media ON. There wasn't any device connected so it didn't actually turn anything on but the radio seemed to switch off. Very annoying.
