the air filter was changed out and was not installed properly

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

all filter was changed out, but the new filter was not installed correctly  because it was missing the rubber ring which connected to the maf sensor.  my question is if the filter was not installed correctly and unfiltered air gets to the maf senors. could this give me fault codes: p0171, p2227 and a p061b.  the car is in limb mode right now.  bought a new filter with the rubber ring and has the filter installed correctly.  with the new filter on, the engine does not idle correctly, revvs up to 1500 rpm in the idle mode. could the maf sensor got dirt on it to cause the engine not to idle correctly.  the only thing done to the car was that the air filter was put on incorrectly

Yes, a wrong air filter can cause this code. Clean MAF with CRC MAF cleaner, just spray it do not touch the filament.
