Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Owner of an 05 CVP71, do they come stock with
limited slip or lockers. Or could i go with either or,
being as tho my axle is a 8.8 31spline?

I seriously doubt your car came with a locker. Lockers are for 4x4's and off road, not for the street.

Really appreciate the advice. Im new to the DIY mechanic world. Trying to learn as much as possible

If you are looking for all out performance then an ECTED Max might be what you want. You can lock these for drag racing. http://aftermarket.auburngear.com/general_questions/

I know this is super old but, for anyone finding this thread like myself, and needing answers... the above “answer”/STATEMENT/OPINION is WRONG. Certain Vics DID come with a LSD. Only on certain gear ratios, though. Also, to say that they're only for 4x4/off road is a joke in and of itself. You mentioned yourself in your personal recommendation, that you’d need to lock for drag racing. Most of the drag racing I know of, IS on the STREET. Before I get too far from the help portion though, you can look under your vic and tell pretty easily if it has a LSD or not. Some quick googling will tell you everything. My advice is to look under and take a picture of the letters/numbers on the pumpkin in the middle of your rear axle. Then use it while googling the results to find out your exact ratio / lsd or not; that is, if it isn’t made clear to you purely by sight. Please don’t quote me on this last part; but I’m pretty sure that if you have the stock LSD+gear ratio that you’ve also gotten the worst MPG out of the standard options. Hope this maybe helps someone, as I’m no mechanic, or expert at all, but I do own a crown victoria so I have spent a lot of time researching various things dealing with such.
