Coils and spark plugs

Asked by Kimmetje Jun 03, 2017 at 08:50 PM about the 2014 Ford Escape SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been having a series of over heating issues
with my 2014 ford escape. Finally i was told to
replace the cylinder head. So i ordered a new one
and it was replaced. Just got back the jeep today.
While test driving it the jeep started loosing power
going up a hill and my check engine light
immediately came on. I was told after replacing the
cylinder head the mechanic needed to also change
the spark plugs and coils. I want to know if this
could be the reason for the jeep to be loosing
power?

It could be but have the trouble codes(if any) read and post them here.

Wonder if its a timing issue or the head gasket installed is leaking again but have those codes read but do not let the shop off the hook for it yet until it fixed. Good you found it out on a test drive hopefully before signing off on it.

Spark plugs yea as they may get damaged during the head gasket leak or replacement, but coils should make it, unless have cracks to housing, if so replace. First off the coils should be tested.
