Im driving a geo metro convertible. While driving the battery light goes off and on. When driving at night the lights go dim and bright. Have had alternatalternator check its fine, battery is new.

The most common is a bad voltage regulator, did they use a digital tester or an analog when you had the alternator checked, I have seen digital testers smooth out voltage readings an analog tester picks them up. You should also check all of the body, engine and frame grounds.

I think it's your alternator charging some of the time when you had it checked it was working but then some times it doesn't work. I'm telling you this from my experience of almost 25 years working on Metros. I would replace the alternator.Hope this helps. Paul
