Why won't my f150 start

Asked by Daniel89d50 Jan 22, 2017 at 05:13 PM about the 1989 Ford F-150 S Standard Cab 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I was parking my truck last night and went to
turn it off and switched the key over to off and
then it started to crank over and over again and
didn't stop when I took out the key even! Now I
bump started it in the morning  and I could drive it,
so I drove around a little bit and then parked. Tried
to start it and it was a click or clunk type noise but
not cranking. A friend thinks it's my starter.

The starter is not the cause of the problems you describe. It may be the solenoid up on the inner fender, or the ignition switch. The solenoid can cause the click, no juice running threw to the starter, The starter still cranking when the key is out would be the ignition switch.
