2014 Subaru Forester possible torque converter issue

Asked by Thatzgottabe Feb 02, 2020 at 08:08 AM about the 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Evening all.
Got a 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5 with a CVT,
with 100,000 miles. Got a list of symptoms. I
think it's the torque converter. Got an
appointment next week to get it looked at.
Just curious  to see if anyone else has any
other thoughts. Here are my issues:
Slow to accelerate/loss of power
Drop in MPGs
RPM rise to 2200 then fall to 1500 during
acceleration
Consistent shudder/vibration felt at 1500
RPM
RPM low at idle
Shudder felt on acceleration from stop/slow
down.
No warning lights currently present.
Thanks for y'all's help!

The CVT doesn't have a torque Convertor. But if sure does sound like the transmission. CVT's aren't rebuilt in the garages, they send them out to be rebuilt. So they will order a remanufactured transmission for you and replace your current one. Expect to pay over $3K.

The CVT does have a torque converter and there have been problems with some of them. http://www.lemonlawcase.com/problem-vehicles/subaru-continuously-variable-transmission/
