glove box latch is broken; lid won't stay down.

Asked by GuruTKP91 Jul 10, 2018 at 12:06 AM about the 1989 Cadillac DeVille Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The latch to the in-dash glove box will not stay down.  The latch won't engage.  The "lid' will raise and light goes on.  Can run battery down.  Where can I find parts to replace the latch.

Have you tried adjusting the latch? At least one side will have some screws that hold the latch in position. Find them and move the latch piece to where it will grab the mating side when you close the glove box.
