2013 Nissan Sentra SV Blower Motor Resistor location?

Asked by Deep Oct 13, 2019 at 01:41 PM about the 2013 Nissan Sentra SV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have removed the glovebox and watched a ton of videos. The blower
motor is not behind/above the glovebox and I don't see it in the
passenger floorboard. I have see where on the Rogue and Versa they
moved it to the drivers side but everything I've watched on the Sentra
suggests it should be on the passengers side but I simply cannot locate
it. Need help.

Just to help the next person....... The 2013 Sentra moved this resistor to the drivers side. I had no luck posting on car sites (including a paid site) in locating this thing. Here's what I had to do: First of all, go buy the part. This was the only way I could confidently identify the installed part. The sticker on the OEM part and the one I got from Autozone were identical. Next, I removed the drivers side kick panel. Then I pulled away the trim under the steering wheel on the right, and removed the 2 screws on the left under the hood and gas tank levers. I did not unplug any of the connectors, I just rotated this trim and pushed it to the far left by the door. Next, I removed the metal support bar under the steering wheel just to free up some room. I still haven't disconnected any electrical plugs. That metal support bar was screwed to another bar that is C shaped. Shining a light through that C, and looking about a foot back into the dash and up 6-8 inches, I could see the backside of the resistor and the sticker on it. Reaching my hand (arm) up through that C, i found the release tab on the top of the resistor, and pulled it forward a little. I then found a similar release tab on the connector and released it as well. Now, the truly hard part: getting the resistor out of there. I fought with it for quite a good while until I got it out. The new one went in much easier and once it was in place, I blindly managed to get the connector plugged in. I watched a lot of videos and posted on a lot of sites. Removing the pedals and coming from the bottom doesn't really work bc you are directly under it at that point. No access through the center area behind the stereo and no access behind the gauge display. And metal C you reach through? That thing shredded my right forearm. There's a lot of twisting and finagling around as you have to work blindly in a very confined space and it just grinds on you.

Thank you because I was having hell finding it myself on sites or videos. I'm hoping it's the issue because I so need the AC to be blowing constantly and not when it wants to!! Sorry you had hell and hope I don't have as much arm damage since I'm sure mine might be smaller then yours .. lol I'm going to do as you said once pay day hits, get the part and get this done !! Again Thank you for sharing because this Momma needs it blowing normally, down south living ..

I'm from Alabama so I get it, lol. FYI for me the resistor didn't fix it. It probably needed replacing, but didn't solve the problem. I replaced the fan itself, which was much, much easier to do) and that fixed it. Fan was 70ish if I recall. Last tip: open the camera on your phone and switch to video. Turn the flashlight on. Point it up in the area where the resistor is and hold with other hand. This will keep you from being totally blind. Good luck and respond if you hit trouble.

Hi Deep, What was your symptoms? I'm trying to determine if my problem is the motor blower or the resistor. I have a 2014 Sentra. It blows real weak and has been getting worse the past year. No it is at the point that sometimes it don't blow at all then sometimes it does.

Mine was clearly blowing or not and then it just stopped completely. The fan is the easier fix but yours sounds like it could be the resistor. Hit me up if you have trouble.
