Why is my truck run like crap??

I think my distributor cap is sitting
in the wrong position in turn that
would make all the wire in the
wrong place.....it runs but is real
doggy has no get up at all

Get a timing light and check the timing. You may also need a tune up, cap, rotor, wires, plugs etc.

any ignition contacts , coil/distributor/ that are dark should be cleaned/replaced , replaced would be better

Is the automatic transmission shifting late? Is it running hot or boiling over? In addition to lack of power those are all systems of a worn timing chain. Hope that helps! Jim

I'm sorry I should have mentioned it is a 4 speedThe photos that I've seen show the bolts on the distributor cap sitting in a certain position and mine are basically the opposite positions does that matter or does that I mean the the plug wire still go to the right plugs and then same order it's just the cap is sitting seems like it's just not sitting right over

You need to compare your cap to the correct location and the wiring order from the diagrams. We can't help you unless you post a photo below,

Normally the distributor cap will only go on the distributor and lock down in the correct position. If you have to force it on or it's cocked, it's not on correctly. Hope that helps! Jim
