new motor 22re only 1 and 4 working right

I have a 1989 Toyota p/u 4x4 22 re been in shop year and a half . when I got all the money paid in full shop Quit working on my truck. I had them put a new motor in it for me a 22re , motor only running correctly on 1 and 4 cyinders. 2 and 3 are firing but low compressing. what do I need to do to fix this problem myself ???? thank you for your help !!!
