Question type: Maintenance & Repair

HI I need help with this car situation please. Well I bought a 2012 Volkswagen Passat and Im already having issues. The guy that sold it too me had his mechanic put in a newer stereo system from a 2013 Passat and now im wondering if he hooked up everything correctly because When I start the car its sputtering and the lights inside are flickering like its loosing powe. The stereo also turns up and down the volume while driving the car probably because there is not enough power. What should I do? Replace the battery or does it sound like something else is wrong with my car?

I don't think it's related as it could be coincidence. But what you could try is pull the fuse for the stereo to kill the power to it and see if that changes anything.

So it could be as simple as a fuse huh? So should I even bother talking it in to check the alternator or battery or maybe timing belt?

There is a good possibility that there is something wrong. The reason why I suggested to remove the fuse was for troubleshooting purposes. I would recommend bringing it in to have it looked at.
