Cost of maintenance, repairs, and upkeep

Asked by Dec 23, 2015 at 09:27 AM about the 2013 Ford Focus ST

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm looking to buy a Ford Focus ST. In particular, a used 2013 model with
about 75,000 miles on it. If I was to make the purchase, I'd like know what I'd
be in store for as it pertains to the cost of maintenance, repairs and up-
keep...with all the miles already on it, how long before the engine light comes
on? How long do these car's last?

That is a loaded question, but the answer to your question is the upkeep and maintenance is no more than any other car, and the CEL doesn't come on at any specific time. The car will last as long as you own and maintain it. Economically before the big things like and engine or transmission fail? Hard to say but most vehicles will run up to 200K. No guarantees with any vehicle these days. Get the car checked out/inspection by your mechanic, make sure all the issues are address before buying.

Looking for a little certainty in an uncertain world? Good luck with that- especially where used cars are concerned- your costs will be determined by how the car was treated and maintained by the previous owner(s)- how can you know? roll the dice-
